This catalogue of the additions to the collection of the Australian Subscription Library was the second Addenda to the major catalogue published in 1843, A Catalogue of the Books in the Australian Subscription Library and Reading Rooms, Systematically Arranged. Printed in Sydney by Kent and Fairfax, printers of the Sydney Morning Herald, the preliminaries include a list of the officer-holders of the library society, a list of new subscribers, a financial statement (for the year 1845), a list of recent donations, and some statistics relating to library use in 1846.
The catalogue lists 252 new titles added to the library since the previous Addenda. Significant acquisitions were made in the categories of Biography and History (56 titles), Works of Fiction (43 titles), Geography, Voyages and Travels (56 titles), and Miscellaneous (31 titles). The other new acquisitions were in the categories of Periodicals (10 titles), Jurisprudence (8 titles), Theology (6 titles), Poetry and the Drama (8 titles), Philology (8 titles), Antiquities (7 titles), Natural History (7 titles), Natural Philosophy and Chemistry (4 titles), Agriculture (4 titles), Architecture (2 titles), Mechanical Arts (1 title), and Medicine, Anatomy and Surgery (1 title)
